Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Job Duties:

  • Ensure that all information systems meet Department of Defense Instruction 8500.01 mandated Cybersecurity requirements. 

  • Provide Information System Security Officer (ISSO) support for systems.

  • Facilitate information system authorization to operate (ATO) compliance and re-accreditations IAW with DOD 8510.01 and ICD503.  This will be for any or all the NIPRNET, SIPRNET, JWICS, and Special Access Program (SAP) Systems.

  • Facilitate registration and maintenance of information systems in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) system. This support includes all efforts associated with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, such as artifact preparation, submission, and updates.

  • Facilitate the completion and submission of waivers, exceptions to policy requests, and system change requests.

  • Provide host-based security system (HBSS) client management.

  • Implement and maintain anti-virus and malicious code protection for all information systems using government-provided software.

  • Provide and/or facilitate the distribution and installation of security patches.

  • Provide or coordinate security vulnerability scanning and reporting using government-provided applications.

  • Support scheduled Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI), and Security Assessment Visits (SAV).

  • Provide onsite incident management during regular working hours for NIPRNET, SIPRNET, JWICS, Special Access Program (SAP) Systems, and equipment.

  • Develop performance measurements (goals/metrics/reports) utilizing the current RMF tracking Systems (eMASS and XACTA) and facilitate a feedback system to team members and the customer to enhance the quality of security support delivered.

  • Utilize ITIL best practices to enhance and optimize the services provided to end users.

  • Participate in implementing an enterprise knowledge base and knowledge management best practices for RMF and ISSO responsibilities.

  • Coordinate with support teams to request scans, patching, and STIG compliance and institute continuous improvement initiatives and methods.

  • Resolve customer issues effectively or escalate them to appropriate support tiers.

  • Assist in the professional and technical development of the team, especially for RMF topics.

 

Requirements, Education and Experience:

  • TS/SCI security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.

  • 8-10 years (with Bachelor’s) or 6-8 years (with a Master’s) of professional experience supporting DoD or IC RMF activities.

  • 5+ years of experience with ATOs and eMASS.

  • 4+ years of experience as an ISSO with tasks of a similar size/scope.

  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+, CND, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).

Senior Systems Engineer

Job Duties:

  • Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop secure system solutions for cross-domain systems and dataflows. 

  • Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities. 

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology, including project plans and schedules with tasks and milestones. 

  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations. 

  • Experience with RMF/ICD-503 across the engineering system development lifecycle 

  • Experience with secure architecting methods and modern defense in depth solutions including zero trust, secure cross domain solutions. 

  • Experience with networking and cloud-based solutions (commercial, private on-premise, or hybrid) 

  • Develop system architecture and system design documentation. 

  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans. 

  • Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts. 

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility. 

  • Able to identify risks and develop risk mitigation plans incorporated into project plans. 

  • Supervise assigned technical staff and subordinates. 

  • Establish state-of-the-art techniques for designing, developing, modifying, and troubleshooting highly complex computer operating hardware systems.  

  • Design operating/hardware systems; formulate system concepts and architecture, specific requirements, and develop implementation approaches.  

  • Identify and direct resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues; subject matter expert on emerging technologies; direct the development of systems specifications and technical documentation.  

  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis, and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.  

  • Conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life cycle through the proper balance of functional, performance and non-functional system performance areas.

Requirements, Education, and Experience:

  • TS/SCI security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.

  • 5+ years of experience with Cross Domain Solutions architecting and implementation, including Forcepoint High Speed Guards, OWL Diodes, Radiant Mercury, or ISSE Guards 

  • Experience with design or implementation of VMWare ESXi, vSphere, or vRealize Operations in a secure application architecture.

  • Experience with implementing Infrastructure as Code technologies, including Chef, Terraform, Ansible, or SaltStack.
